The summit has a modest budget and depends on sponsorships. Tickets are priced accessibly, with a sliding scale down to $0 – in 2025 half of the attendees paid nothing. Sponsorship money covers site rental, lunch, interpretation, and childcare (50% of budget); travel stipends for 20+ speakers (40%), and other costs. Sponsors support a grassroots network working to build a more democratic economy.

Why Sponsor?
The Summit is the only State-wide cross-sector cooperative annual gathering for members of worker co-ops, food co-ops, housing co-ops, ag co-ops, financial co-ops and others across New York State. Sponsorship supports a grassroots network to build a more democratic economy for all. . The Summit offers workshops and peer conversations to help start, sustain, and scale cooperatives, building a statewide movement for economic democracy. Prior summits in 2024 and 2025 drew more than 100 attendees from all corners of the state: NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and the Capital Region, the Hudson Valley, the Adirondacks, the Finger Lakes, the Catskills and more. The event has no formal staff – it is organized by a coalition of volunteers who champion cooperatives across the state.
Are sponsorships and donations tax deductible?
Yes, the Summit operates under the fiscal umbrella of the Alchemical Nursery Project Inc, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Sponsorship checks can be mailed to Alchemical Nursery Project, 717 Otisco Street, Syracuse, NY 13204. A W-9 form for the nonprofit is available here.

Who attended the 2024 and 2025 Summits in the past?
Over 100 people attended – cooperators, technical assistance providers and the co-op curious with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Speakers were from Ward Lumber, Cooperation Buffalo, Cooperative Fund of the Northeast, the Democracy at Work Institute, Cooperative Development Institute, Capital Bookkeeping Cooperative, Co-op Hudson Valley, Untangled
Resolutions, Columinate, the NYC Network of Worker Cooperatives, Good Work Institute, and others, with food from worker-owned Gimme Coffee, Cabot Cheese, Honest Weight Food Co-op, and the Syracuse Cooperative Market.
