GrownBy was founded in 2019 because farmers needed fair technology: technology that was affordable and technology that would bring real innovation to get more local food to more people. Since then, we’ve platformed more than 1,000 farms in 48 states (and now Canada!) who sell through our app, GrownBy.
A central part of our mission is Food as Medicine, which is why we’re the only app to offer SNAP Online for free to any farm in the US. We’ve gone beyond to support double-up food bucks programs and more to make local food more accessible.
We’ve just launched a WeFunder campaign for the first time. You see, as a cooperative, we’re excluded from traditional capital (venture capital). Thankfully, we’ve been supported through foundation grants, USDA contracts and impact investments – but the turmoil on the federal level has created a very different environment for us. Plus, we have some exciting new features on deck and we need capital to get them to market.
